New for Version 2.41. New installation process The installation process has been improved so that it’s quicker, safer, and easier to download the software and get started. A workspace is automatically installed along with the dashboard; email confirmation is no longer required until after NomaDesk is up and running; and the software installer is now signed with a digital ID from Verisign for a secure install.
2. Email contacts integration MS Outlook, Outlook Express (Windows Mail) and Google email clients can now be integrated into NomaDesk so that you can more easily send FileLinks and invite other people to your workspaces.
3. The possibility to re-invite guests An extra button called “Reinvite Pending Guests” was added to the “Manage Workspace” tab allowing you to more easily re-invite pending guests from a pop-up window.
4. For mobile users, functions once only available through the desktop application are now accessible through the Internet Browser-based and mobile users can now access all existing NomaDesk desktop functions through the Web, including: creating FileLinks; managing and reviewing current guests and invitation status; adding and deleting workspaces; managing access settings such as read-only, guests inviting guests and Email2Folder options; and viewing the syncing status of a workspace, including last-change-made and amount of storage used.
5. Automatic Updates NomaDesk will only install new/changed components and not completely reinstall, except when new drivers have to be updated. It is no longer required to restart Windows when installing the dashboard.
6. Overall performance optimization Several performance bugs have been fixed to give the user a faster, friendlier, and a more stable experience.
7. Scalability improvements Back-end improvements to allow for increased traffic and usage.
8. Improved access to help A comprehensive “getting started” help web page will launch after NomaDesk has been installed. This page can be accessed at any time by selecting “Getting Started” in the help menu.
Important Bug Fixes:1. More user-friendly way of handling double accounts If you had more than one account, it could be confusing when the same workspace would appear twice on your dashboard (for example you were both a guest and an owner). Now, if a second account is added and a user has two of the same workspaces, the workspace with higher access rights (where the user is the owner and not the guest) will be mounted to the dashboard.
2. Addition of “LookingforChanges” syncing state There currently is a “pause” before a workspace actually syncs, which is where NomaDesk compares the file index on the local workspace to the workspace on the server. This pause now has a name: “LookingForChanges.”
3. "TheftGuard" website will include extra PC information The Dashboard will automatically attach the name of your PC to your dashboard ID.
4. Better usability if you use proxy servers We’ve improved the way NomaDesk works with proxy servers by automatically re-initializing its settings if a connection fails.
5. Add the workspace name to the invitation email The workspace name will be listed in the invitation email.
6. Duplicate some systray settings in the dashboard Now, all the settings on the dashboard and the systems tray are present in each location.
7. Syncing warning when closing NomaDesk Now, users are warned while a workspace is syncing that closing the ND application will also abort the synchronization.
8. Invite new guest - enter wrong mail When entering an incorrect email an unclear error message used to appear.
9. Conflict resolving bugs It will take less time to resolve conflicts, as they are all handled in a single synchronization instead of one after the other.
10. Better error messaging for three file-syncing errors Three major errors related to corrupt workspaces and syncing problems are better explained and users are given support links with solutions to help solve related problems.
11. Random NoConnection error Solved problem where the Dashboard goes to NoConnection for some reason.
Fixes for a future release:1. Email Integration for other email clients Integration into Windows Live and Yahoo Mail will be developed for a later release.
2. Bugs related to Conflict Resolving Not able to solve for this release “False Conflict” issues, where the dashboard occasionally reports a conflict with a file when there is no conflict. This will be fixed in the following release.
3. Email attachments from Gmail are not saved to a workspaceWhen attempting to send a file to a workspace using a Gmail email address, attachments do not end up in that workspace. This will be solved in a future release.
